Joy Carrillo is one of the original staff members from last year’s re-unveiling of Compound and is the current Assistant General Manager of Union @ Compound. With a background in both education and hospitality, Joy can execute her strong analytical and problem-solving skills, while encouraging the community to embrace a new, elevated dining experience. She is a double alumnus from CSU-Dominguez Hills graduating with a B.A. in Liberal Studies: Art and an M.A. in Sociology. She remains a member of the Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociology Honor Society.
With seven years of professional experience in the restaurant industry, creating a welcoming environment for people to gather is one of Joy’s ongoing creative pursuits. Her journey in the service industry has taken her through 53-year-old steak and seafood house, The Admiral Risty, in Palos Verdes, The Jonathan Club in Malibu, and Spotted Hen Catering which services the greater Los Angeles area, including historic venues such as The Adamson House and The Paramour Estate. Joy’s days off from work consist of spending time with her grandmother and dog, venturing out to try new coffee shops, and revisiting her favorite nearby restaurants.
